Thanksgiving is the perfect time to celebrate things you’re grateful for, including any financial wins. Whether you paid off a credit card, built an emergency fund, or chose to stay on budget for a few months, it can be inspiring to have gratitude for the savvy money moves you’ve made over the years.

Acknowledging your achievements isn’t just feel-good advice; it’s a powerful tool for maintaining progress and staying motivated on your financial journey. It can also keep you inspired to budget before the holidays hit and strategize for future goals.

Building Financial Momentum: Small Steps, Big Impact

Financial momentum starts small but gains power over time. Financial wellness grows from consistent habits, like tracking your spending, celebrating small milestones, and expressing gratitude for every positive step. For example, it can look like the joy you experience when exercising financial discipline and reducing impulse spending. Or, it could look like setting aside a few minutes each week to review your budget and appreciate how far you’ve come.

According to Forbes.com, having an abundant money mindset and being intentional with your finances fuels optimism. As a result, this outlook can build gratitude and confidence that builds financial wellness.

Here’s how you can build that same momentum:

  • Biweekly payments: Use AutoPayPlus to schedule biweekly payments that align with when you get paid, reducing debt and high interest rates. Automating other monthly payments can reduce even more debt and protect your credit.
  • Automation: Set up automatic transfers for savings, as well as  loan and bill payments with AutoPayPlus to avoid missing payments.
  • Budgeting: Putting aside money each month, creating a budgeting goal, or using budgeting apps can create a boost for your wallet. Even saving $20 per paycheck can go a long way.
  • Stay connected: Monitoring your credit score, your account activity, and noting how far you’ve come in our Member’s Portal or on the app keeps you connected to your goals. Seeing your progress in black and white reinforces positive behaviors and shows you exactly what you’ve accomplished this year.

  • Your consistent transaction tracking that prevents overdrafts.
  • The weekly spending reviews that help you stay aligned with your goals.

These small, daily practices are the foundation of financial wellness. Just like gathering around the Thanksgiving table, gathering your financial data regularly creates awareness and appreciation for how far you’ve come. And with tools like our Member’s Portal and app, you’ll have more to celebrate no matter the holiday.
